On October 21, 2017, GN successfully secured a significant tender for providing solids control equipment for 16 drilling rigs in Ukraine. This marked a significant milestone for the company, as it showcased GN's expertise and capabilities in the field of mud dewatering and solids control systems. The client, based in Ukraine, was looking to upgrade their existing mud recycling infrastructure to enhance operational efficiency and productivity.

The Spent Water-Based Mud (WBM) Dewatering System is used to treat water-based mud that is generated during the drilling process. Two common methods are centrifuge and polymer unit, and filter press and polymer unit.

Solids Control System to Ukraine

The contract awarded to GN included the provision of a comprehensive solids control system to Ukraine. This system is crucial for the efficient management and processing of drilling fluids during the drilling operations. By effectively removing solids and other contaminants from the mud, the solids control system helps in maintaining the desired properties of the drilling fluid, ensuring optimal drilling performance.

If you are starting a pump with essentially zero head, your pump won't actually pick up unless you put some back pressure on it. You can achieve this by closing the discharge. Be cautious though. Running a centrifugal pump in dry or deadhead conditions for more than a few minutes will cause your pump to heat up, damaging the components.
